HFO refrigerants unfortunately may have some other lasting negative environmental impacts, making natural refrigerants a safer bet in the longer term.

Very interesting article. The built space offers such opportunity to repurpose infrastructure for a new electric economy that integrates living decarbonized spaces.

This is awesome, thanks! I would add two more categories where a lot of HVAC-related innovation is happening: controls and analytics. You can have the greenest and most efficient AC unit in the world, but if it's running when the building is unoccupied or if it's low on refrigerant and wasting energy then we don't get the result.
