Regarding the news on the European taxonomy:

"The European Parliament backed labeling investments in gas and nuclear power as climate-friendly, further complicating Europe’s fight on climate change."

As a matter of fact, nuclear is the cleanest energy there is (4g CO2e/kWh), does not depend on the weather and is has the smallest footprint (thus smallest impact on biodiversity). Finally, solutions do exist to manage nuclear waste.

When it comes to gas, I must encourage to dive into the conditions applied to new powerplants as they are very constraining and would make them much "cleaner" than existing ones (I did not say clean!)

When there is no wind and no sun, you back up is coal, gas or nuclear.
